The legend

Lu Rusciu te lu Mare

The title recalls one of the most famous ballads of the Salento oral tradition. The term Rusciu derives from the Greek Ròtion, which indicates the roar of the undertow or the murmur of the waves breaking on the coast.

It is the echo of a submerged epic, the cry of a land that looks at the horizon as a boundary of desire and death. The song tells of an impossible love for the Fija te lu re, the king's daughter. The roar of the sea is Mutu forte, too powerful for human laws, yet in that lament arises the flight of the dove of the spirit that transports the Kardià beyond every social barrier, in an eternal promise of universal union.

The name evokes the sound atmosphere of Salento and the poetic pain of a love that finds in the murmur of the sea its only and infinite confidant.
